[A History of Murphy's] [graphic]. [2007]

Image composed chiefly of text excerpts taken via rubbings (frottage) of various commemorative plaques in the Sierra Nevada gold rush town of Murphy's, California. Much of the text refers to the violent history of the location. Other rubbings within the image appear to depict gold miners and/or other figures from Murphy's history. This work was made by Weber in collaboration with the group Organik for the series Monument, in which the artists seek to investigate the texts and images of architecture, public memorials and monuments. (cf. http://www.booklyn.org/).

1 sheet (drawing and montage rubbings) : graphite, ink, washes and wax crayon on paper ; 113 x 77 cm.
